In this first part, you will be drawn into the preceding story of "The Knees."

My mother has had trouble with her knees for years. They hurt her a lot. Before the cancer hit she has been to the doctors several times for that. She was told that she has osteoporosis. She had to take calcium tablets to counteract that.

During chemo, her bone structure continued to deteriorate. And since then her knees hurt more. Recently she had an exploratory surgery, and her knee was examined. It turned out that she does not have a problem with her meniscus, but that it is wear and tear. They can do something about that. Then they are going to cut the knee and fix it. Normally the knee is in the X position, but then it will be put in the O position.
