On a rainy afternoon
Flood in Roermond
After the bizarre news of the past few days, I wanted to see for myself what the high water has been up to. Close to home, the Ham Brook has burst its banks. The Hammerveld now looks like a swamp. When you walk on a dike and see water on two sides, it makes for beautiful pictures.
If a tree trunk floats by, the thought pops into your head: Is that a crocodile? In Panama it could be, but here only in the zoo. Also, the halfpipe where skating is normally done was not in use now. The dog at the end was mistaken for a beaver.
We are a lot better off compared to our neighboring countries.
