Time machine in prayer

Today is the first day after Pentecost that I am back in church. Easter time is now truly over and the time through the year has arrived.

In this morning's lauds, the hymn sings praise to the sun. These hymns return every four weeks. Tide prayer is a prayer with the 150 psalms repeated every four weeks. But this past Easter and before that Lent, there were other hymns.

The psalms come from Scripture and contain every emotion. Sometimes I feel happy and then you get a very sad psalm. But often it is also a psalm that gives you a particular memory of an event in your life.

So too today with the hymn from Morning Prayer. This hymn to the sun, which I wrote about earlier, led me back to Soná. Every morning I tried to start with the lauds. I sat there on the bench in the sun early in the morning and I couldn't sit still. If I did, I probably would have been burned by the sun. In the early morning, it was already so powerful. All the while I was praising God and singing about the sun.
