An (un)planned but great day

I was invited by Areli, the friend of "my cousin," to go to her hometown and go to the fair there. We were supposed to go last week, but because she is pregnant, it could not take place. Yesterday the plan was to spend a few days in Ocú. She wanted to show me the region. But the plan changed to one day.

Today we went. We went to Ocú after lunch. It is in the neighboring province of Herrera, not very far from Soná. We arrived early and took some pictures in the park and then went to the church. As it turns out, today is the feast of St. Sebastian and we just missed the celebration. But in the evening there was another mass. And we also heard that the fair had already ended. So we were too late for the original plan. But improvising is in the DNA here. Whether it's an extra meal, hosting a party or no fair like today, we just change the plan.

We went to see Areli's grandparents and we got lots of explanations from her uncle. We went for a walk through nature and of course that includes a machete. To decapitate snakes if necessary. But during the beautiful walk, which took quite some energy, the machete went along more often and was chopped into the same trees. Although unfortunately I don't have a photo of that.

After visiting her family, we went back to the main town of the district and I went to Mass. It took some getting used to the cameras, but it was much more professional than I managed during the pandemic when the mass was broadcast on YouTube. But well, I was alone, I wasn't communicating with others by walkie-talkie, and I wasn't walking "in frame" all the time to move the cameras.

On the way back, we went out for pizza. I also just added a picture of 2023. The last stretch home was really afterglow. Also with the special question I received, but which I would like to keep to myself and not publicly write down here.
